Before the committee sit to ponder this application;
I cordially invite them to spend a night and a day as guests in mine and my wife's house.
Breakfast will be served at approx. 5.30 am weather you like it or not due to noise (reported)
When you get up and throw back the curtains you will be greeted to the delights of a wonderfully colourful hideous shop front with flashing 'open' signage (15hours per day)
Fresh air can be taken in from the rear of the property only as we cant actually vent the front rooms due to the constant noise of deliveries and general traffic (5am through till 11pm).
if you fancy a walk, leaving our property you will be met with a wall of sometimes ankle deep rubbish and detritus spewed out by the shop and its customers (photos available), along with a plentiful supply of very valuable cheap beer cans sold by this establishment.
Once this has been navigated you can try your luck at crossing the road (game of chicken springs to mind) and hopefully not get flattened by numerous delivery trucks, lorries and vans, (god help small children and mothers with buggies and prams) this event usually takes place between the hours of 3/4pm.
Night times once you are in bed, you will delight in a constant drone of vehicles stopping, starting or sometimes they are good enough at leaving the engines running, with the not so occasional toot of the horn or alarm sounding should they wish.
Other than that I cook a mean breakfast!
I oppose this plan, The committee out of common decency and public duty should do too. There is no need for this shop to be expanded enough damage has been done to the village already.

I whole heartily disagree with this proposed development for these reasons;
I struggle already to walk properly and quickly, following a failed full knee replacement, and often find myself stranded midway across the road to dodge weaving excessive traffic, the traffic situation will only get worse and more dangerous for myself and the many school children that use the single narrow footway to access the local school.
My husband is a very ill man with a diagnosis of heart failure some 3years ago and may need emergency care or hospitalization at any time of the day or night, How are emergency services to cope with getting to him in an already very busy narrow road?
the proposed development will only add to the already many problems that can be clearly seen, should the planners wish to visit.
The extended opening hours already mean that we are disturbed from 5am until 11pm with heavy vehicles unloading, dust carts (6.30 am) and smaller delivery trucks arriving prior to the store opening to either deliver or collect or waiting service vehicles 'popping' in for fags and papers.
The noise is really awfull and disturbing and already needs immediate action to remedy it.
Several neighbours have also complained with regard to the current noise and nuisance levels and have given up taking days off because they cant sleep in anyway.
It is intolerable.
Litter is also another problem, the proprietors take no interest in keeping the are a clean and tidy and the whole thing leaves a very messy street scene on most occasions.
my other fear is for new signage, it will be as bad if not worse than is currently in place.
I understand that no permission is in place for the current signage, why not? the proprietors have ruined a lovely village setting with their total disregard for their neighbors and have no interest in maintaining the village atmosphere.
Had permission been in place when I agreed to purchase this property, our legal advisors would have commented on any application with an adverse or detrimental effect to my property and I would NOT have purchased. This situation is very very unfair and I feel so strongly about the proposed development.
Due to the existing hours and operations of this store, people struggle to get into St. Clements church for functions and services , this is particulary bad for the infirm and elderly.
We are constantly asked on an early Sunday morning if certain vehicles are ours and could we please move them, this is distressing for us and the church goers.
I disagree entirely my husbands comments that the village needs a shop, yes it does but we have a perfectly adequate shop in costcutters just on the corner which caters for all needs. They also have dedicated parking and space for lorries to SAFELY un load and stock the store.
This village does not need this general store/excuse for a post office.
And certainly not in its current awful signage and hours.
I was also unaware that the proprietors purchased the road directly outside the premises! my husband has had notes pinned to his vehicle about parking outside because due to his customers parking willy nilly along the road with no space for him. I have withdrawn my patronage to the store for this and obvious reasons regarding the state of the store generally.
I oppose the development of this site.

The problem with the traffic is getting worse outside of the shop with delivery vehicles just unloading anywhere in the road in so doing they block all the traffic going through the village until they are unloaded.
The extension will I believe interfere with the houses that use the shared driveway as it will be right up to the boundary line and obstruct there view when exiting the driveway.
The parking problems with the traffic is affecting not only the road users but also the neighbours and that of the historical church user's as well.
We have a going concern with Costcutters which is a very adequate and well stocked shop less than 50 yards away with off road parking.
The extension is neither wanted or required.

I think this is a really bad idea and I have stopped using the shop because of the parking problems and traffic. The traffic and parking outside the shop is dangerous enough as it is and we definately don't need a larger store in the village. We currently have 3 convenience stores which is plenty for a village of this size and to allow this enlargement would put pressure on the other stores and maybe put them out of business, reducing our choice. My main objection though is on account of safety. This is a narrow road between 2 bridges with very little parking, what parking there is for the residents and church has now been taken over by the shop so people have the park along the road making it even narrower. Often you have to queue to get past the shop as it is and it is only a matter of time before someone steps out between the cars into an oncoming vehicle.

Traffic is already a big problem down that road, it is already dangerous to take children to school, and i feel this would be made worse if this was to go ahead also we already have a big enough convenience store called costcutter which has off road parking and provides everything you need

As headteacher of Beaupré Community Primary School, I am concerned that any increase in parking or the volume of traffic would increase the risk to our pupils' safety.

I am writing in regards to the above planning application to object against this proposal for an extension. My family and I run the Outwell Costcutter store a few meters away on Church Drove and feel that 2 such stores cannot co-exist in small village like this.
The traffic and congestion on Church Terrace is horrendous and dangerous especially for the school children and elderly using it daily. Its a narrow through road as it is and would become a lot worse due to delivery lorries coming/going and parking on Church Terrace on a regular basis.
Costcutters already provides a big enough convenience store for this village with designated parking spaces outside the store for a number of cars. Deliveries to and from costcutters also do not interfere with the public or the street due to a large lorry access to the rear of costcutters which enables all deliveries to be done off the public highway and not intervene with any resident or cause any danger to pedestrians. Deliveries on Church terrace however will have to be conducted on the street at all times of the day including school hours.
The village will not gain anything by this extension as we already have costcutters and other neighboring shops. Not to mention bigger supermarkets in Wisbech. By increasing the size of this post office you will be making an unsafe road even more at risk to a major accident with children/mothers and elderly constantly using the pathways. The residents living opposite and adjacent will suffer from parking and noise even more so.
Also i have spoken to a couple of church attendants who have mentioned on different occasions that they have been intimidated to move their vehicle whilst parking on church terrace opposite the post office. I didn't realize the parking on this road was for post office use only and not for someone going to the church!? Like i have mentioned the extension will only exasperate the problem.
The costcutter site has existed as a convenience store for this village for nearly 50 years. It provides all the day to day needs as a convenience store and also has ample off street customer parking for several cars as well as a large delivery access for lorries to the rear of the shop.
If there were any positives or gains of extending this i wouldn't have a problem. But like i said for a village of this size what we already have is sufficient and by increasing the size of the post office the village will not gain anything but the opposite due to traffic/congestion/hazardous for pedestrians and unhappy residents who live around it.

with the size of this business in its location and the size of the access rd i feel it would be detramental and a highway hazard considering the trafic volume at this time we no doubt be segnificantly increase causing possible highway disruption and danger to pedestrian access
