It's a conservation area and it doesn't need any more houses. Also it is too cramped to put a house on.

Although the proposed development does not directly affect me I comment because it is the latest example in the growing trend of building in a private garden that is unfortunately being allowed in the village mostly to the detriment of the village street scene.
This proposal is on another level to others in that it is well inside the conservation area on a piece of land that old maps show has never been built on before.
The proposed dwelling is far too large a footprint for the plot and not in keeping with neighbouring properties, which it would greatly overshadow. The proposal for a shared vehicular access and rear access is hardly the best arrangement for future owners of the property.
The main practical objection is the location of the vehicular access on the apex of an awkward bend in Norwich Road, the main route through the village, where there is no proper footway and almost opposite the vehicular access to another dwelling.#
This development should under no circumstances be allowed and the garden of number 15 should remain just as it is.

We are the tenants currently living next door to the proposed development.
We would echo and support the comments above.
The proposed dwelling is located on the corner of a busy main road. The visibility for both pedestrians and cars is very bad, and this particular stretch of road is a death-trap. Building another property on that corner will be extremely dangerous, especially for cars pulling out of driveways and more importantly, for the kids walking to and from school every day.
In addition the proposed house is extremely close to the boundary fence, and if built, would overlook and overshadow the surrounding properties, not to mention that it will transform this stretch of road into closely-packed housing, thus ruining this beautiful part of the village and contravening the very essence of a conservation area.
On a personal note, Applegate (on which the proposed dwelling would be squeezed) has been undergoing extensive renovations for the past year. We are semi-retired and so we have been subject to the full force of these renovations. It has been noisy, dusty and intrusive every day for nearly a year now, and we are now faced with the prospect of another year of the same.

There are 3 significant issues with this planning application, these must be addressed before this planning application should be considered.
1. It's a tiny plot for a large / tall new property. This new property is directly on our boundary, its overbearing and will block the daylight / overshadow our property. Its windows will also overlook our property, including the kitchen, rear garden, bedroom, drive and bathroom, particularly because it sits right on the boundary.
2. Highway safety. Norwich road is currently a death trap waiting to happen with speeding cars and vey poor visibility, Adding an additional property/ drive and additional traffic, increases risks significantly for cars and pedestrians alike.
3. Contravenes the Conservation area. The house is too big and not in keeping with the other apple gate cottages, it's taller, bigger and a different style to its neighbors. It will also require removal of the apple tree.

I am the current joint owner of 19 Norwich Road which is the next door neighboring property. At present 19 Norwich Road is occupied by tenants.
I object to the proposed house for 4 reasons:
1. Highway safety
it is dangerous leaving and accessing our property due to the blind bend in the road and low visibility. We are very concerned that having another driveway in very close proximity would increase risk of accidents. There is no public footpath on this side of the road and young families use the road on a daily basis walking to and from the local school. There is a high volume of traffic commuting to and from Marham airbase. Deeply concerned about safety issues for pedestrians on foot walking past this area and cars accessing their driveways. Cars don't always follow the speed limit until they reach the green. This is an accident waiting to happen.
2. Overlooking / overshadowing our home
The proposed property will be overlooking our property on the east side which is being built right next to our shared boundary. There are windows on our property that face this side belonging to the front bedroom and back bathroom upstairs, and the downstairs windows of the kitchen and sitting room. The sky lights at the back of the proposed property will overlook our property at the back.
3.The proposed building is very close / virtually on the shared boundary of our property and the new property. Concerned the existing shared boundary of newly erected fence (2016) and brick wall supporting the fence will be damaged and disrupted during building.
4. Being over bearing
Concerned that the owner is squeezing in a new house into a very tiny plot will look out of character next to a row of old red stone cottages in a conservation area. There is a beautiful old apple tree in the area proposed for the building. What are the plans for this tree as this will need to be removed?

I feel a very strong objection to the proposal to build a house adjacent to 15 Norwich Road, Shouldham. This is already a difficult stretch of road; traffic comes through this section of the village quite fast and being on the route from Marham is quite heavy at times. It is not an easy stretch of road onto which to exit from a property. This is just one more potential traffic hazard that is - in my opinion - unnecessary.
The disruption and creation of traffic obstruction during building will be considerable.
It is I think a minute site and I find it quite ridiculous to even think of building a house there.
It is yet another example - increasingly common in Shouldham - of squeezing a house into an inappropriate site.
The people making the application - I assume the people who live at !5 Norwich Road - have not lived there very long. I wonder how come they bought the house and its garden if they did not wish to enjoy the amenity of the garden. Of course I cannot know their reasons for this planning application, though a fair guess is that it brings in some money. I rather object to this whole planning/development culture which seeks merely to make financial gain from minute pieces of land regardless of the history, social context and aesthetic of an area. I personally think it is building based on avarice and I think it is extremely questionable and objectionable.
If the people who bought 15 Norwich Road don't want a house with a garden then they should move and sell the house to someone who does.
I really really don't think permission should be granted for this ridiculous inappropriate and objectionable application.
