Yet again, this demonstrates the drip feed of planning applications by a large multinational company, hoping to railroad decisions through the local process. Following on from the original proposal of a drive through restaurant. Which is a misnomer as a drive through facility cannot ever be described in the same terms as a restaurant.
A drive through and the inevitable associated infrastructure, such as lights, signage, excessive through traffic at this already busy junction is completely out of keeping with the character of a small village community. The lit signage, so close to residential properties would be an unacceptable imposition that would never be reversed. There is a local dark sky policy in this rural area, and this application takes no consideration of the environmental impacts of this application. The artificial lighting will adversely affect our airborne wildlife, including the local bat population. Additionally the proposal details various signage, including other items, there is no detailed map or pictorial examples of what the signs, banners and DOT signs would look like. This proposal and any other proposals associated with it must not be allowed to proceed at this location, I object to this proposal in the strongest terms.

The signs proposed in this application are not in keeping with the local area. It is an area of rural countryside and historical significance. The signage will detract from our rural coastal environment and is more suited to an urban environment. We should protect our special heritage and beautiful countryside and not blight it with commercial signs for a fast food restaurant.

This further application for signage, illuminated banners etc. is very underhand coming as it does as a drip feed process following on from the original proposal that I objected to in the strongest possible terms.
A drive through restaurant, and associated facilities would be a completely intolerable addition to the site on an already busy junction on the A149. The close location to residential properties would be a disaster, a rural village such as Heacham does not need the chaos that will no doubt arrive if this application is approved.
This latest application if allowed would go against everything the village and its surrounds stand for.
On other McDonald sites, which are generally on commercial estates near petrol stations and other industrial businesses, all the signage, banners and lighting are far too overpowering for a village site like this. The Council's dark sky policy would be completely obliterated, and if the site is open 24/7, the lights will be seen for many hundreds of meters away, and create misery for the many properties nearby. The environment, the wildlife, and the chalk stream river must be protected.
This application has to be refused with no appeal, Heacham doesn't want it, and the views of the village residents must prevail.

I object to the latest application for signage.
This will distract people from when driving.
It will cause light pollution especially for the people who live nearby.
It is in contradiction of the councils dark sky policy.
No other business on that junction has signs which are illuminated.
It will detract from the unlit signs including the village sign. Heacham will be defined by the garish bright yellow arches, illuminated menu boards and multiple other signs.
Totally out of character with the rural setting.
Drip feeding the signage into the planning process means that the full horror of the site is never revealed. Did they really not know they wanted signage when they made the first application.
This is misrepresentation and should not be allowed.

An eyesore, and a danger to traffic too.

Dear Planning Officer. I am writing to strongly object to the above consent application. As there combined presence, will have an unacceptable level of light pollution. This proposal will be on a scale of 24hr a day, 7 days a week. This will have a huge impact on the residents who live within 20metres of the site boundary, loss of privacy, sleep disruption, and properties having rear bedrooms. Yours Sincerely Mrs Ball

I really don't think this is the right place for a McDonald's. The traffic along this road in summer is already a disaster, and this siting would only make it much, much worse. Why not locate it in Hunstanton? An already built up area with a lot more footfall. Locating on a rural road is just not right. And the rubbish will be scattered all along it, damaging wildlife and biodiversity of the limited hedgerows and field edges we can maintain.

It will bring only damage to the village , will kill small buisihess ..and will hoover out pockets of the visitors before they get to Hubstanton, create a huge traffic which is bed enough already, will affect wild life with the litter flying around like everywhere else.
